UA-EACC honors Distinguished Teaching and Outstanding Staff Award Recipients

UA-EACC honored recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Outstanding Staff Award during the recent Arkansas Community Colleges annual conference held in Hot Springs. Carol Rodgers, Math Instructor, was selected as the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award and Lisa Siler, Director of Payroll and Benefits Administration, was selected as the recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award.

The UA-EACC Foundation provides the awards each year to honor dedicated faculty and staff, and to recognize outstanding job performance.

The Distinguished Teaching Award is presented a UA-EACC faculty member for his or her excellence in teaching and service to students.

Rodgers' nomination form stated: "She inspires confidence, fosters growth, and transforms challenges into opportunities for success through her compassion and belief in the students she serves," said a colleague.

Rodgers was praised for her commitment to teaching and mentorship including how she changes lives and reminds students that they are capable, valued, and deserving of success.

"For nontraditional and returning students, she creates an encouraging and understanding learning environment. By sharing her own educational journey, she helps students see what is possible and reassures them that they belong. She celebrates achievements and walks alongside her students through each step of their journey and goes above and beyond to ensure understanding while offering support, additional instruction, and care for academic and personal growth," suggested a former student.

Lisa Siler, Director of Payroll and Benefits Administration, was selected as the recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award, which is presented annually to a UA-EACC employee who manifests outstanding job performance, attitude, and willingness to go "that extra mile" for the good of the College.

Siler's nomination form highlighted her integrity and dedication to the college. One colleague said, "She brings a contagious positive energy to her work and is always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether assisting a coworker or supporting a student, she consistently does do with professionalism, patience, and a welcoming smile. A trusted representative of UA-EACC, she ensures all communication is professional and that employees receive the highest level of support."

Known for her teamwork and relationship building skills, she is always available to assist others. Another colleague shared, "Whether I have a question, she not only provides and answer, but makes sure I truly understand it. If I have a difficult task, she is the person I trust to help me. No matter the circumstance, she ensures important College operations continue to run smoothly."
