Withdrawal Process
Withdrawal Process
Course Withdrawal and Complete Withdrawal
Students are responsible for officially withdrawing from courses or from the College by submitting the appropriate withdrawal request through the Registrar's Office.
Withdrawal from a single course does not constitute withdrawal from the College. Students wishing to withdraw from all enrolled courses must complete the College withdrawal process.
Failure to attend class, cease participation, or stop submitting coursework does not constitute an official withdrawal. Students who stop attending without officially withdrawing remain enrolled and may receive failing grades and incur financial obligations.
Students considering withdrawal are strongly encouraged to consult with their advisor and the Office of Financial Aid before taking action.

Financial Aid and Withdrawal
Students receiving federal financial aid should be aware that withdrawing from one or more courses may affect:
- Current financial aid eligibility
- Future financial aid eligibility
- Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Return of Title IV (R2T4) calculations
- Outstanding balances owed to the College
Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid before withdrawing to fully understand the financial implications.

Return of Title IV (R2T4)
Federal financial aid is awarded with the expectation that a student will complete the enrollment period for which aid was received. When a student withdraws, stops attending, receives all failing grades due to non-attendance, or otherwise ceases participation before the end of the term, federal regulations require the College to recalculate financial aid eligibility based on the amount of the term completed.
Earned and Unearned Aid
A student's earned aid is determined by the percentage of the payment period completed. Students who withdraw before completing 60% of the enrollment period may be required to return a portion of their federal financial aid. Students who complete more than 60% of the enrollment period are generally considered to have earned 100% of their Title IV aid for that term.
Return of Funds
When required, UA-EACC will:
- Determine the student's last date of academic engagement.
- Calculate earned and unearned Title IV assistance.
- Return any required unearned funds within federally mandated timeframes.
- Notify the student of any resulting balance or repayment obligation.
UA-EACC is required to return applicable federal aid funds within 45 days of determining that a student has withdrawn.
Order of Return
Unearned Title IV funds are returned in accordance with federal regulations in the following order:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant
- Other eligible Title IV programs
- State, institutional, or other aid programs
Post-Withdrawal Disbursements
Students who withdraw may be eligible to receive a post-withdrawal disbursement of earned but undisbursed federal grant funds. Eligibility and disbursement are determined in accordance with federal regulations. Because UA-EACC no longer participates in Federal Direct Student Loan programs, post-withdrawal disbursement provisions related to federal student loans do not apply.
Unofficial Withdrawals
Students who stop attending without completing the official withdrawal process may be considered unofficial withdrawals. The College will use documented academic engagement and last date of attendance information to determine eligibility for financial aid and perform any required Return of Title IV calculations. This process may result in repayment obligations and outstanding balances owed to the College.
