Academic Advising

At UAEACC, academic advising is a collaborative partnership between students and advisors designed to support student success from enrollment through graduation. Our advising philosophy emphasizes proactive engagement, individualized planning, informed decision-making, and meaningful connections to campus resources. Advisors help students clarify their educational and career goals, develop academic plans, understand degree requirements, and navigate challenges that may impact success.

Through comprehensive support and intentional guidance, advisors empower students to take ownership of their educational journey while building the skills and confidence needed to achieve their personal, academic, and professional aspirations.

New Students

New students begin their UAEACC experience by partnering with an advisor in the Welcome Center.

• Meet with an advisor to discuss educational and career goals.
• Review placement information and develop an academic plan aligned with program requirements.
• Learn about college policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Connect with campus resources that support academic achievement, engagement, and persistence.
• Develop a foundation for success through intentional planning and goal setting.

Returning Students

Returning students continue the advising partnership through ongoing academic planning and progress monitoring.

• Meet with their assigned advisor and program faculty as needed.
• Review degree progress and ensure timely completion of program requirements.
• Discuss academic performance, career exploration, transfer opportunities, and graduation planning.
• Receive guidance regarding course selection and registration.
• Utilize myUAEACC and other student resources to manage enrollment, access records, and monitor academic progress.

Shared Responsibility for Student Success

Academic advising is most effective when students actively participate in the process. Advisors provide guidance, information, support, and resources; however, students are ultimately responsible for understanding degree requirements, meeting academic deadlines, making informed educational decisions, and taking ownership of their academic journey.
